Frequently asked questions
Using the McKenzie system of evaluation, the first visit will take at least an hour allowing Hugh Murray to have a better understanding of your entire presentation/ pathology. With this better understanding, he can be more efficient and effective in treating you. This also allows you time to ask questions and explain any and all concerns. In that way you both have a better understanding of how to fix your problem.
Please, arrive 15 minutes early to fill out the paperwork. Expect the 1st visit to last at least one hour. I want to hear your complete story and I have lots of questions.
At your first visit we will talk about what goals you have, what you want to achieve. Usually, it is to abolish your pain and improve your ability to function.
The Riverside, South Point Clinic is the only McKenzie certified clinic in the state of Ohio, West Virginia or Kentucky. This is sort of a sad state of affairs that there are not more Physical Therapist’s who have pushed themselves for the complete training. Fortunately, there are physical therapists and occupational therapists that are McKenzie Certified. Please be a critical thinker when you decide which physical therapist you want to go see. We are NOT all trained equally or the Critical Thinkers that we should be.
The majority of Physical Therapy lasts from 2 to 6 weeks and when you are satisfied with your results and I am satisfied with your results you continue on with a home program that you can do on your own. You will not need to come in for the rest of your life. I will teach you what to do if you have a flareup and the majority the time you can fix this yourself. If you feel the need to come in you can call and come in if you have questions.
YES. After a thorough evaluation, I can better understand you and your presentation. You will be given one exercise to perform over the next 24 to 48 hours. That way if you do one thing and when you get better, we know exactly what did it and it will help me answer questions more effectively. If you get worse we will know, what did it. In this way I can more effectively help you.
